Fibers Obtained from Invasive Alien Plant Species as a Base Material for Paper Production

چکیده
Invasive alien plant species (IAPS) are one of the biggest challenges in European ecosystems, displacing local vegetation, destroying agricultural land, and causing billions dollars damage to economy every year. Many them removed daily mainly burned. In this work, we investigated possibilities using plants as feedstock for paper production. Papers made from three invasive plants, i.e., Knotweed, Goldenrod, Black locust, were studied compared with commercial office paper. The study included testing of: (1) structural properties—basic physical properties, grammage, thickness, density specific volume, moisture content, ash content; (2) dynamic mechanical properties—tensile strength, Clark stiffness, viscoelastic properties; (3) colorimetric properties prints; (4) effect UV light on ageing; (5) cellulose fiber structure morphology by microscopy. results suggested that produced can be used paper, considering is slightly dyed. Such papers also special purposes present a natural style connection nature. printing documents meant kept.

Non-native plants that can cause adverse effects are otherwise known as invasive alien plant species which pose a major threat to plant biodiversity conservation and sustainability. This study is dedicated to determine the plant diversity and to assess the vulnerability of Quezon Protected Landscape, Southern Luzon, the Philippines to invasive alien plant species. Data from 90 10x10 m randomly ...
متن کاملSpecies distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats
The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...
متن کاملPlant-microbe-herbivore interactions in invasive and non-invasive alien plant species
1. Plants interact with many organisms, such as microbes and herbivores, and these interactions are likely to affect the establishment and spread of plants. In the context of plant invasions, mycorrhizal fungi and constitutive and induced resistance of plants against herbivores have received attention independently of each other. However, plants are frequently involved in complex multi-trophic ...
متن کاملA multi-species experiment in their native range indicates pre-adaptation of invasive alien plant species.
*To understand prerequisites of biological invasions, it is imperative to know whether species have traits that pre-adapt them to become invasive elsewhere. However, few experimental studies have explicitly tested this by comparing traits between invasive and noninvasive species in their native range instead of in the nonnative range. *We used native plant material of 14 European congeneric pai...
